1. Turn off circuit breaker
2. shut off cold water entering the tank using shutoff valve
3. connect hose to spout at bottom and run hose outside
4. turn a hot water faucet on somewhere in the house. This lets air into the tank
5. use screwdriver to open valve at hose connection
6. let drain. Could take awhile
7. to remove sediment turn cold water on for 20 seconds then off. Let drain. Repeat 2-3 times
8. close valve with screwdriver and disconnect hose
9. slowly turn cold water back on. Make sure hot water faucet is still open
10. let fill then turn breaker back on
